Collection of Information
We collect personal information from you for the purpose only of providing our services to you. The sorts of information we collect from you may include:
- name, address, age, family circumstances, employment situation and health
- financial details relating to assets, income, liabilities and capital needs
- tax file number
- proof of identity
- future intentions, needs and objectives
You may choose not to give us information in which case we may not be able to provide the services you request because we do not have the appropriate information on which to base or provide advice.
We use your personal information to:
- provide the basis for advice you request
- administer and implement services we provide to you
- operate our business and meet legal requirements
- satisfy our legal obligations under Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Law
- contact you and provide follow up information to you
Disclosure
We will disclose your personal information to third parties only:
- for the purposes of implementing and delivering the services and products you request
- where required by law (such as to the ATO or in satisfying audit requirements)
- where we are obliged to disclose information in the public interest
- where you request that we provide specific information to a third party
Security
Personal information is stored in our computer system with appropriate security and in hard copy files stored in our office. Reasonable steps are taken to protect the information from unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure.
Accuracy
We rely on the accuracy of the information you provide. If information we hold is inaccurate or outdated please advise us so that we can amend it.
Access
You are entitled to review personal information we hold about you. If you wish to review your personal information please contact Chris Harris at Retirement Victoria. He will make arrangements to give you appropriate access. We reserve the right to charge a fair fee based on our costs. Access may be refused in limited situations– for example where access would unreasonably infringe the right to privacy of others.
Complaints
Retirement Victoria has a formal complaints handling process. If you wish to complain about a possible breach of privacy on our part please contact our office.
